Frequently asked questions

In cases where the tooth is severely damaged or received a root canal treatment, we can utilize a crown to help protect the tooth from fracture, giving it a natural appearance and normal function. A crown (sometimes called a cap) can be made of stainless steel, porcelain, zirconium. They’re strong and generally last for about 10 years or longer if you take good care of them by keeping your usual, regular home care routine. We will prepare the tooth so our laboratory can create a custom-fitted crown that looks beautiful and functions like your real tooth. Once we permanently affix the new crown into place, your smile will look, feel, and work exactly as nature designed it to.
A bridge is used for missing teeth, which are replaced by shaping the neighboring teeth and fixing a custom-made structure to fill the existing gap, giving back the natural appearance and normal functional operation.
Both dental appliances are installed to help return normal function and aesthetics. Your dentist will be the one to determine which dental appliance is best for you based on the number of teeth missing, health of your gums and health of the teeth that will serve as an anchor.
Generally, bridges and crowns last anywhere between 5 to 15years; more in some patients. The key is proper oral hygiene. We recommend that you follow a routine dental checkup every 6 months where teeth cleaning can be done and any problems with the prosthesis can be detected.
